GARNET STONE, ITS HISTORY, ITS ORIGIN AND ITS COMPOSITION, ITS PROPERTIES AND ITS VIRTUES

The Garnet stone will give you anchorage and self-confidence. A true stone of passion, this stone will help you fight sadness, discouragement and emotional instability. Discover all the virtues of this stone.

HISTORY OF THE GARNET STONE

Used for millennia and over the centuries in jewellery, the garnet stone was sometimes called red gem, from the Latin “malum granatum”, grain fruit, closely resembling the colour of the pomegranate. The Romans also called it carbuncle. Its presence in various religious texts testifies to the importance of the symbolism of the garnet stone: in the Bible it is a lantern to illuminate Noah in the midst of darkness and the term carbuncle is used in the evocation of the fourth heaven of the Koran.

During Antiquity, however, it was difficult to identify these garnets, due to the lack of an exact method of identifying precious stones, empirical tests being not very rigorous. The garnets were therefore sometimes confused with ruby, as spinels, regarding the category of garnets pyrope. However, we will then note a great difference in hardness and cleavage between these stones, thus making it possible to distinguish them. Indeed, the garnet being much less rare than sapphire or ruby, it was used to engrave agates, jaspas, ivories, etc. to represent faces or animals, in Rome, Greece or ancient Egypt. There was a large variety and in its powdery form, its abrasive qualities were used to easily roughen and polish these stones, especially quartz which was a softer stone. The garnet stone, town, was used instead of other non-precious corundum and quality all too rare. In terms of hardness and availability, this stone was therefore unanimous.

In the 5th century AD. AD, the rise of garnet was confirmed during the fall of the Roman Empire. For good reason, the barbarians used it in jewellery, taking up the Byzantine style, to which they added their techniques and their cloisonne know-how. Also, the Vikings used it during funeral ceremonies, giving the garnet the virtue of being able to guide the dead to Valhalla, paradise. Merovingian jewellery composed of garnets, in particular fibulae or garnet pendants, are in fact exposed to the museum of national antiquities of Saint-Germain en Laye or to the museum of Cluny, inheritances of their coarse and never faceted polishings, thus preserving the initial volume of the rough stone. The eighteenth century also saw the use of garnet in Europe, in adornments thanks to the Bohemian garnet. Then the 19th century, in Asia in particular, saw this stone used by the warriors of Honza, in the north of Pakistan. By its blood colour, the latter lent it a more powerful murderous power and therefore fired garnets at their British opponents rather than lead bullets.

ORIGIN AND COMPOSITION OF GARNET STONE

The garnet stone takes its mineral origin of its isometric crystal system. Also called pyrope-almandine when used alone, the majority of garnets are often presented in two categories: nesosilicates and gemstones for quality garnets. Composed almost exclusively of garnet, one speaks then of granitite, but this stone is also a component of certain metamorphic rocks (eclogites, paragneiss) which then makes it possible to specify the history of their pressure and their temperature.

The garnet is a family of isomorphic minerals, Group 4 / m32 / m cubic system, derived forms: From the nesosilicates group, from the Greek nesos (island), they are formed three-dimensionally isolated tetrahedra and unrelated between them, however sharing vertices of octahedron and tetrahedron, made up of all identical oxygen atoms. In the space between these polyhedral there are cavities in the form of triangular dodecahedra, in which the bivalent 8-coordination cations are placed. These cavities can be described as tetragonal anti-prisms deformed in such a way that the vertices are no longer coplanar. The mesh is very large in size since it does not contain less than 96 oxygen. No cleavage was observed.

VIRTUES AND PROPERTIES OF GARNET STONE

On the psychological level, garnet stone has many properties, thus bringing joy and strength to life, energy, courage, driving force and confidence. It is associated with the power of will, better self-confidence, and success. The garnet stone is so strong anchor stone. Garnet is credited with the power to break free from negative behaviour patterns and the power to regenerate, to help combat discouragement, sadness, failure and emotional instability. This stone promotes self-respect and also helps to cope with obstacles or a feeling of persecution. Finally, the garnet allows regressions on previous lives.

On the physical level, garnet has a certain role, first of all by strengthening the heart, and by regulating the circulation of the blood. In addition, by increasing the blood plasma and therefore the white blood cells, the uptake of haemoglobin is improved. The capillaries are also strengthened, reducing skin irritation, internal and external wounds. The garnet has a toning role in several organs, notably the liver, spleen and kidneys. Reproductive systems are stimulated, thus improving sexual potency and protecting the reproductive organs. Also treatable: ringing in the ears. At the bone level, we also note the power of garnet against joint pain and heaviness, abnormal hardening of an organ and reduced bone mineralization, as well as bone fractures. The spine would be protected.
